As you notice from the title, there is a "Snow White" - there are even seven knights, as opposed to seven dwarves. Also, the whole 'Cinderella' concept of an evil stepfamily is brought in here as well. Who knows why.
A green, bubbling light shines out from the darkness. As it grows brighter, a man's voice says, "Liefe [pronounced 'leaf']: it is the life in all things." The light swirls in on itself and contracts. "Liefe: the power which all living things carry. In both men and women..." The light becomes a shadow, one of a teenage girl. { Screen Shot } Her arms are stretched out in a "T" position. Behind her appears another shadow, this of a young man. "When Pretear's Liefe and a Knight's Liefe are combined, a new power is born..."
In a peaceful, green land, a little pink bird is snoozing away on a leaf as a fish flies by. (Above the water.) A shadow comes over the land, and violet-black crystals shoot out of the ground, next to a small lake. The bird freaks out. { Screen Shot } Next, a dragon like crystal leaps at it - only to be smashed by the magic powers of a long haired man dressed in dark violet, non-modern clothing. { Screen Shot } (His profile is the same one in the beginning, for the "Liefe" lecture. So is his voice.) The bird that he apparently grabbed out of harm's way is tossed, and it flies off. Next to him, a silver-violet vertical line appears, then flips into an ellipse, and a man's voice calls out, "Hayate!" as it blips into a man. Hayate says, "Oh, it's you, Sasame." The white haired man, Sasame, asks worriedly if that dark aura just now... could it be? { Screen Shot } On Hayate's other side, a man appears in the same manner as Sasame, and says that at last, the thing that they have feared the most has awakened. { Screen Shot } Hayate says in a low voice, "Kei..." Kei then tells him to call everyone.
Hayate kneels down to the spring, and says, "Spring of Liefe, I call forth the rest of our protectors." The spring flashes into ice from where he was, and from it, a young boy with white hair springs forth. Hayate calls him, "Mannen." { Screen Shot } Next to Mannen appears a circle of flame, and from that a tall, young man appears. "Goh." { Screen Shot } Next to him, a drop of water falls into the pond, and a little boy comes from it. "Hajime." { Screen Shot } Next to Hajime, a large, pretty pink flower unfolds, and a little, cherubic blonde boy sits in the middle of it, called "Shin" by Hayate. { Screen Shot } They're all wearing very unusual outfits. Hayate then points over at a tree across the pond from them. It's dark and twisted, looking 'evil'. Red lights swirl from the hole in the middle of it, and fall into the water, which glows scarlet. Mannen asks what it is; Kei says that they are the Seeds of Disaster. At Hayate's feet, the reflection of a modern city appears. Hayate says that the Queen of Calamity calls forth the red snow of disaster above the ground. Sasame says that they can't allow the Queen of Calamity, Fenrir, to be revived, and that they must quickly find the one who makes the snow white... At his last words, Hayate's eyes darken in emotion. (He isn't pleased.)

Title Screen: The Wind of Fate
A girl wearing a high school uniform is holding two bags of fertilizer (plant food?) on each shoulder, and pouring them on a bed of flowers. She laughs as she says that with this, they'll be healthy, so grow well ~ ! From behind her, a woman's voice calls, "Young mistress!" [Note: she says 'ojou-sama', which means 'young lady' very respectably.] The voice belongs to a maid, who says that the breakfast is ready. The girl turns around, and waves at the maid. Smiling, she thinks to herself that her name is Awayuki Himeno, and she's a high school student whose father just remarried - and this place isn't a house, it's a mansion! We see her 'house', and its grounds are enormous. A teeny arrow points to a dot in the garden, which you can barely see because we're looking at an overview of all the grounds. Inside the house, the maid calls her 'ojou-sama' again, but Himeno asks her to please just call her 'Himeno' - after all, she's really not that type of person. She continues, saying that after all, she's just the daughter of a very unpopular author.
Flashback --> Himeno's father is sitting at a table in a normal, middle-class house, pouring sake [Japanese rice wine] into a cup, when Himeno (wearing an apron) appears behind him, and yells, "HEY!" at him. He flinches. She then asks in a dark voice what he's doing so early in the morning - with their small amounts of money, she's been trying to make sure they have good nutrition, so he had BETTER EAT HIS MEAL! He holds up the sake bottle and says, "My food!" She kicks him. { Screen Shot }
In the present, Himeno looks slightly wistful as she thinks how that was the type of life she led... { Screen Shot } Facing double wooden doors, she thinks to herself brightly that she has to adjust to this new lifestyle, bit by bit. Revving herself up, she opens the door with a happy, "Good morning!" She winces slightly. Already sitting at the table is her entire family. At one side are two girls: a long, pink haired girl who looks very snobby, and a quieter girl with green hair. (Both look about Himeno's age.) Himeno identifies them as her stepsisters, Mayune and Mawata, respectively. { Screen Shot } Behind them is a very short, SD looking man with round glasses. On the other side of the table is a very dignified looking woman, with her hair piled up on her head. Next to her is Himeno's goofy looking dad, who waves at Himeno with a, "Good ~ morning ~ Himeno!" { Screen Shot } Himeno says that this is her stepmother, Natsue-san, who responds by saying that she certainly is late, so they started without her. Himeno apologizes sheepishly, and starts to sit down in her seat. [Note: Himeno calls her mother, "Okaa-sama," which is the equivalent of saying Mother very respectfully.] As she sits down, she thinks to herself that she's becoming closer to her new family, and it's fun... the chair breaks, and Himeno slams to the ground with an, "Itee..." [Expression of pain, more rude/common than the more polite expression, "Itai."] She grabs a chair leg, and looks at it, thinking angrily to herself that it's already been cut... [As in, enough of the chair legs were sawed so that it could keep standing, but would snap off as soon as someone sat down.] Natsue says sharply, "Himeno-san!" Himeno stands up, and says, "Yes! I'm fine!" Natsue ignores that and asks Himeno what was with the "itee", and says that it's "itai", not "itee". Himeno apologizes, muttering softly, "Itai, itai..."
Next to her, Mayune says to her mother that it really doesn't matter. Himeno brightens up at these words, but Mayune continues, saying that it just shows her different upbringing that Himeno doesn't know how to sit on a chair. Himeno laughs it off, but behind her, a dark, looming shadow of an angry Himeno, who says darkly that it was HER who did it in the first place... Mayune laughs happily, and her own shadow says that she doesn't have to thank her! The two laugh hysterically. As Natsue says that they get along so well, Mawata gets up, says that the food was good, and then walks away. Mayune looks at her for a moment, then wipes her mouth with a cloth napkin and says she will go as well. She instructs the funny little SD man, Tanaka, to get the car ready. He does right away. Across the table, Natsue says, "Well, Kaoru-san [Himeno's father], shall we go for a car ride too?" They hold each other's hands and look happily into each other's eyes, smiling happily. He agrees, and they dash out happily, with him waving at Himeno saying, "Himeno, take your time!" Himeno yells at him to wait, but the door slamming in the empty room is her response. Himeno sighs. The maid from earlier appears, lugging a chair, and seats Himeno in it. She then says, "Um, Himeno-sama [she changed from 'ojou' to Himeno]..." then shows Himeno a clock. Himeno shrieks, then dashes out the front door, yelling that she's coming too. The car is already speeding down the road, with Mayune laughing hysterically, and Himeno settles into lines of gloom. { Screen Shot }
As Himeno walks out, she thinks to herself that they already left... looking up at one of the windows, she sees a pot of flowers, sitting on the sill. She thinks to herself, "Mom..." [Note: she calls her mother okaa-san, not okaa-sama, which is what she called her stepmother.] She flashes back to a time with a very young Himeno, watching happily as a pretty, young brunette watered the plant. { Screen Shot } She gave the watering can to Himeno, and let her water. Himeno looks incredibly wistful and sad as she thinks of this, then suddenly straightens up, smacks herself lightly in the face, and says that she can't be thinking of this! She does several fighting stances, then yells, "I WON'T LOSE!" (A sign reading, "Evil Dojo Fighting Style Wild Dancing Stance!" appears behind her as she poses.) Her yell echoes throughout the area, zooming out to reveal that it seems this whole place is a circular island. { Screen Shot }
In town, Himeno thinks to herself that this area, which was developed by the Hojou Financial Group, was thus called 'Houjoshiki.' However, since Hojou's widow married her father, the name became Awayuki - from the stores to the entire town! Himeno thinks exasperatedly to herself that really, rich people... looking at her watch, she freaks, saying that she'll be late! She decides to take a short cut. As she turns into another street, she pauses in surprise. Red snow is coming from the sky. She holds out her hand, and sees a flash of light go across the sky. { Screen Shot }
In a construction area elsewhere, the three youngest Liefe Knights are huddled around a corner [in normal clothes] - Mannen, Hajime, and Shin. Mannen is bragging about how his instinct is perfect in this. Shin, talking to the bird on his head, 'Tipi' (either the same bird or same breed as the little one saved by Hayate in the beginning), says that it really is disgusting. Tipi chirps, "Tipi," back at him. { Screen Shot } Mannen (the oldest of the three) says that he'll take care of this! He begins to build up some energy between his hands, but behind him, someone teleports in, and Hayate runs in, yelling, "Mannen! Where's the mayouchuu?" [Strange demon bug.] Mannen looks shocked and a little annoyed to be shoved aside so easily. On the ground, there is a small, hard disk with a dark, violet stone embedded in it, edged by a shell of purple scales. { Screen Shot } Hayate looks relieved, and says that the root hasn't attached itself yet. Mannen exclaims that this one is his! Shin, who is watching the mayouchuu, sees that the violet stone has flipped itself into an open eye. Heartbeats echo through the area, and the purple shell stretches out from the stone. Shin gasps in surprise, and Hayate yells for him to get out of the way. Between his hands forms an amazing amount of wind, which he directs at the mayouchuu. It surrounds it, closing it back up, gradually making it go back to its original state. Sasame and the other two older knights come running, asking if it's the mayouchuu...? Their voices die off as they look at the mayouchuu, surrounded by spinning wind. (It looks like a model of electrons rotating around a nucleus.) Mannen sulks, saying that there wasn't a need for a fuss... Hayate says that he just put it to sleep, and asks Shin for the seal. Shin puts his hands together, and says, "Reshelles!" and from around his neck, the pendant sends out glowing light, which are green vines that whip out and surround the mayouchuu, shrinking and capturing it within the pendant. { Screen Shot } { Screen Shot }
The rest are relieved, but Kei adds that this might not be the only one - they could be all over the city. Sasame says that after all, they'll need Pretear. Hayate cuts in coldly that no, they don't need Pretear. Goh exclaims exasperatedly, "Hayate! What are you talking about?" Kei adds that if any of the mayouchuu had spread roots, their powers just aren't enough! Hayate yells angrily again that they just don't NEED her! The rest of them stare on. Goh, annoyed, ruffles Shin's hair, and says that even Shin's seal isn't infinite, and leaves. The rest follow slowly, with Sasame leaving last. Hayate's hair is covering his eyes, and he says softly, "Are they wanting the same thing to happen again?" { Screen Shot }
A girl walking to school has her hand grabbed by Shin, and she smiles happily, exclaiming that he's so cute! Shin beams up at her, giggling. { Screen Shot } Other high school girls just appear, crowding around Shin, exclaiming how cute he is. Around the corner, Mannen says that his plan worked - one of those girls is sure to react to the signal. Hajime says that Mannen really is cool, and that the girl who reacts is sure to be Pretear, right? Back in the crowd, Shin is getting poked and prodded by the excited girls ("His cheeks are like marshmallows!" -pinchpinchpinch-). Shin cries a bit, then runs off toward Mannen and Hajime, who yell, "Don't come over here!" The girls run after him. { Screen Shot } They suddenly run away screaming. Goh is chasing them, yelling, "Don't yell! I just want to hold your hands! A hand isn't so bad!" As the run up the stairs, he takes an appreciative look up the last girl's skirt. { Screen Shot }
Walking by a wall made of a hedge, Hayate catches a falling flower, which turns to ash. He says that it's happened over here, too... Suddenly, he sees a rustling in the hedge, coming closer and closer. Hayate says that it's a mayouchuu? The 'mayouchuu' jumps out of the bushes - it's Himeno, who yells at Hayate to move. She lands right on top of him, and with a loud, "ITAI!", realizes she landed on a really cool guy! She blushes as she looks at him, and wonders if this is possibly...? { Screen Shot } { Screen Shot } Himeno looks at him, he looks at her in surprise (he grunts ^^), she looks at him again, he looks at her again, and the third time, he grimaces and yells, "YOU'RE HEAVY!" and throws Himeno off of him, who rolls off of him. He exclaims, "Jumping out like that so suddenly with all your weight, FULL FORCE!" Himeno twitches as he continues, "Ah, so heavy... I thought I was going to die or something!" Himeno rolls back, and yells at him, "When you crash into a frail young girl, aren't you supposed to say (she poses, lowers her voice), 'Excuse me, are you hurt anywhere?'" Hayate yells back that is HIS line, and that he doesn't like the idea of being killed by a passerby - and that on TOP OF THAT, she's heavy! Himeno, who was getting ready to punch him, deflates and lies on the sidewalk. { Screen Shot } Twitching, she gets back up and says, "ANYWAY, what were YOU doing here? This is Haruta-san's house! Ooooh, I get it, you were peeking!" Hayate flinches, while Himeno poses in a 'shocked young girl' pose. "Oh, if this is Haruta-san's house, the mistress is your target, eh?" He yells back that he has NO IDEA what she's talking about, and besides, what was she doing, crawling out of a place like that? { Screen Shot } Himeno tells him not to lie, and he says she's the one trying to... Himeno then cups her hands around her mouth, and yells toward the house, "MADAM! You're being spied oooon!" { Screen Shot } Hayate yells, "Why, YOU!" and takes a step toward Himeno. Himeno then screams out, "PERVERT!" as loud as she can, then hauls back her fist to punch him. He moves his body away, and with one hand, easily catches the punch. { Screen Shot } In a flash of white light, Himeno lands hard on the ground in pain, grasping her hand. She wonders aloud if it was some sort of static electricity? Her watch beeps frantically, and she yells that she has no time for this! As she runs past a shocked Hayate, she adds that this is good news for him, and move out of the way! Hayate thinks to himself that just right now, that girl... it couldn't be... she's... As Himeno runs, she thinks to herself that the guy had good looks on the outside, but a horrible personality! The chimes for the school start ringing, and she screams that this really is the worst!
Back at the construction site, Goh throws a bag of chips to Sasame, who thanks him. (He's wearing a really neat pair of glasses.) Goh complains that not even one person yet... Shin is holding a milk bottle that his bird is drinking out of happily. { Screen Shot } Mannen comes up to him, and asks Shin, "Are you sure she's in this town? (The bird gets angry.) You're not lying, are you?" The bird bites him on the nose and flies off. Mannen yells that it HURTS, and starts chasing the very pleased bird. Kei comments that kids really are simple... a white light suddenly glows on his shoulder, and he turns around in surprise, saying, "Hayate?" Hayate has teleported there, looking gloomy. Kei comments that he's not wearing a very cheerful expression. Hayate says that it's nothing, but they continue to stare. Goh says that Hayate has to eat, and afterwards they can go and search some more. As Mannen runs by, chasing the bird, Goh grabs him in a headlock. Mannen asks him what the heck he's doing, and Goh says he eats too quickly. [Sasame and Kei are still looking at Hayate funny.] Sitting on the ground, Hajime finishes his bottle of milk, then wonders out loud what type of person Pretear is. Hayate clenches his fist, while Mannen says that it's impossible they'll find someone who can react to their power that easily... Hayate turns around to walk away, but Sasame calls out, "Hayate." Everyone looks at Hayate, and the screen zooms in on Sasame's eyes. "You found her, didn't you?"
At school, another student is sitting at her desk as the chimes signifying the end of the day go by. Himeno comes up to her and says, "Yayoi! Would you like to go shopping with me?" Yayoi replies that she would, so where? Over by the door, three girls watch angrily. { Screen Shot } One of them calls Yayoi over, much to her surprise. She excuses herself and walks over. They tell her that she shouldn't talk or talk to that Awayuki Himeno person; she might be thought of as a 'supporter'. After all, they continue, Himeno is the daughter of an author that married Mayune-sama's mother for her money. Another girl adds that even the school's name changed to 'Awayuki'. They talk about how sorry it is for Mayune-sama, having those horrible people suddenly in her family. While they're saying this, Himeno is gettting really angry, clenching the desk with her hands. Eventually, it explodes into little shards, and Himeno walks out the door. Yayoi calls her back, but Himeno just waves at her, smiling. The other girls stare in horror at the desk. { Screen Shot }
Ouside, Himeno is walking out the door, thinking to herself that it was really bad of those girls to call her family things like that; after all, her dad and Natsue-san are sooo lovey-dovey, a family like that is good... she spots Mawata, walking out of the school through the gate. Himeno calls her name, but Mawata completely ignores her and keeps walking. Himeno is left standing there, still waving to no one. Two other girls nearby start talking about it. One of them comments that Himeno is Mawata-sama's stepsister, right? The other one says that she was completely ignored. The other one replies that she's nothing like Mawata; they could never be sisters. Himeno is very sad.
As Himeno walks through the huge gates to her house, she says softly, "I'm home..." but no one hears. { Screen Shot } She thinks so herself, that no one knows she's home, or cares. She thinks to herself that her life is unbelievable - living in a castle with a new family that's so cold. As she walks around the garden, she thinks to herself that even she doesn't know about her family. She's surprised to see a pond in the garden. She walks up and rings the huge chimes, and thinks to herself that all of this is to be expected from such a rich family. Himeno then sits down on a stone bench, and sighs, wondering if she really can't do anything about it. A shining light comes from the sky, and Himeno exclaims, "Again!" The red snow vanishes from her hands, and she says, "It vanished... I wonder what would happen if I vanished, too?" She looks very mournful for a moment, then freaks out, yelling, "Oh, geez! Thinking about something like that; it's the WORST!" She makes such a fuss that she completely crashes to the ground, lying on her back with her legs still on the bench. She moans to herself that her clothes are dirty, too. She then thinks to herself that vanishing is simple - it's just giving up. She hides her eyes with her hands, and thinks, "But..."
As she lies there, a voice suddenly says, "Are you alright?" Himeno automatically says, "Yes..." Blinking, she opens her eyes and focuses up on Sasame's face. She freaks out. { Screen Shot } She springs into a sitting position. He says that he's glad (that she's okay). Himeno is freaked out. { Screen Shot } Up on the roof of a nearby pavillion, Goh and Kei jump down, landing neatly. { Screen Shot } They smile at her, and say, "Nice to meet you!" Himeno begins to say, "Nice to... uh, what should I say... you guys are...?" Running steps are heard, and Mannen runs up, flanked on either side by Shin and Hajime. He exclaims, "Liefe Knights!" Himeno is still staring rather blankly when behind her, Hayate says that they're idiots - this isn't a game. Himeno sees him, then suddenly, punches him in the chin. { Screen Shot } Hayate goes flying, and lands on the ground. The others watch in shock. { Screen Shot } Hayate asks her what she's doing, so suddenly. Himeno answers that she sees; he brought his friends to return the favor, EH? Hayate doesn't get it. At that point, Sasame steps forward, then says, "It's nice to meet you, Awayuki Himeno-san. Or, should I say, 'Princess Pretear'?" Himeno repeats, "Pre...?"
Now, Hajime and Shin are looking at the pond, happily watching it. Himeno sits on the bench. Behind her is Mannen, and in front of her are Kei, Goh, and Sasame. Hayate is leaning against a pole behind her, arms crossed as he listens to Sasame tell Himeno about 'Liefe'. Liefe is inside every living being on this planet. Himeno hums. Kei says that she saw the red snow, correct? She says she did once. Goh says that the evil being Fenrir is targeting Liefe to boost her own power. Himeno sweatdrops, repeating, "Evil being?" Mannen says behind her that without Liefe, the world will be destroyed. Himeno, slightly unbelieving, says sheepishly that it is bad, eh... waving a hand in farewell, she says that she'll just be g-o-i-n-g now... Sasame appears right in front of her face, and says softly that they need her. { Screen Shot } She blushes, and asks him, "Need? Ah..."
Sasame kneels on one knee in front of her, and tells her that Liefe Knights have a limit to their power. However, if she joins them, they can save the world from the Queen of Calamity, Fenrir. Himeno isn't too sure (but she's still blushing), but Sasame says she really is the only one who can do it. There's a pause. Hayate is still listening from his position behind the columns - he still doesn't look pleased at all. Himeno stands up and walks several feet away. She says quietly that she was happy to hear that she was needed, but that really - she can do without this. Looking at them, she says that they're planning on tricking her, aren't they? That after she believes them, they'll laugh at her, right? She says she's sorry, but she's not that simple minded. Goh tries to tell her that she's wrong, but Hayate curtly interrupts him, saying that this girl can't be Pretear - no matter how much power she has, that kind of closed-minded thinking... Himeno yells at him that she's sorry for being close minded, then!
Over by the pond, Shin and Hajime look worried, and say that the Liefe in the water is getting weaker very quickly. An eye of a mayouchuu blips open, and Kei exclaims that there's a mayouchuu in the water! Goh yells at at Hajime and Shin to get back, while a tentacle made of water, covered in purple slime, extends out of the water. Himeno asks what it is, and Hayate says that it's grown up. [I get the impression he was talking to himself, rather than Himeno.] Kei says that a mayouchuu is a separate, growing piece of Fenrir (the Queen of Calamity), and is a servant of darkness. He continues, saying that it absorbs Liefe and offers it to its mistress, to increase its dark power. As he says this, the mayouchuu lashes a tentacle out, wrapping around a tree branch. The wood turns black and begins to rot, and the leaves die. It lashes out more and more tentacles.
Himeno, horrified, turns around and goes to Hayate, and asks him what he's doing. (He's just standing there.) She says that it's dangerous here, and if they don't run away... he shakes her hand off his arm. Kei says they can't do that. Goh adds that they're Liefe Knights; it's their duty to protect the Liefe in this world. Hayate says that they just can't run away. Himeno is surprised and sad. Shin and Hajime hold onto her skirt, and they beg her to become Pretear. Mannen says that she should fight with them, too! Hayate tells them to stop, and then yells at her to get lost - they don't need someone like her! { Screen Shot } Everyone is quiet. Shocked, Himeno runs away. The knights ask Hayate why he did that, but the mayouchuu is coming - as it launches itself forward, the knights transform quickly into their knight outfits (the ones they were wearing at the beginning of the episode). { Screen Shot } The knights all teleport away except for Shin (the youngest), who is picked up by Sasame and protected as the mayouchuu comes. (I'm guessing that his power isn't honed enough that he can teleport.)
As Himeno runs away across the estate, she hears voices, saying things from earlier in the episode.
Sasame: We need you.
Hayate: We don't need someone like you!
Himeno: I wonder what would happen if I disappeared?
Girl: Poor Mayune-sama. All of a sudden she has to have all those people in her family... [flashback of Himeno's chair breaking]
Girl Two: But she's nothing like Mawata-san! They couldn't really be siblings. [flashback of Mawata walking out the school gates without acknowledging her at all]
As Himeno runs, she thinks to herself that disappearing really is easy...
[flashback of Hayate saying that they definitely won't run away] Himeno's eyes widen, and she comes to a halt. She continues to remember various voices. Kei: You're the only one who can do it.
Sasame slashes the mayouchuu tentacles that wrapped around him and Shin, and Goh shoots fire at it. (It doesn't work.) Kei shoots lightning (?) at it, but it's also ineffective. Hayate is holding his side, as if he's injured. Goh exclaims that is just doesn't work, and Mannen takes this as a cue to attack. He builds up an ice attack, but he gets picked up by a tentacle. Hajime, worried, yells, "Mannen-nii!" and in the confusion, gets a tentacle wrapped around him as well. Hayate says, "That thing is stealing their Liefe..." Mannen and Hajime are most definitely getting the Liefe sucked out of them. Goh and Hayate both jump forward, gliding through the air. Hayate's slicing attacks cut the tentacles that were holding Mannen and Hajime, who fall away. { Screen Shot } The monster then shoots some type of green, acidic substance at Hayate and Goh, who make shields out of wind and fire (respectively). { Screen Shot } But, they get knocked back to the ground.
Hayate looks up to see Himeno standing there, who asks him what she's to do to be Pretear. { Screen Shot } He calls her an idiot, and says that he told her to run away, but she fiercely replies that she definitely won't run away.
