06/04/2004 Entry: "Harry Potter"

Wow. I am really tired. And I have Grogan homework. But Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was SUCH A GOOD MOVIE. The last two seconds sucked. But everything else was really, really good! It is by far not only the most elegant of the three movies, but really, just the best one altogether. I can't express how pleased I am. Yes, it diverged from the book quite a bit, but it was a GOOD MOVIE, something which the earlier two were unable to do. ^_^

Lots of cheering in the theatre, mainly because there were tons of HP fanatics. The dementors, were, by the way, really and truly nasty. And the Whomping Willow was on crack. The movie flows very quickly, btw - very little filler - so I wonder if I would have enjoyed it less if I hadn't understood so well what was going on. Either way, great fun.

Channel 7 ABC News was there, but they ignored us. Even bypassed Jessie's t-shirt, which said, "Real men are Harry." Heh. Too bad, because she had a Harry Potter doll too. No, they went after the teenage girls wearing handkerchiefs tied as skirts. (With Radcliffe and Felton pasted onto the fronts of the t-shirts.)

Andrew needs to get away from the emo.

I really need to finish my work and get some sleep.

I think neither is going to come true. Night. Will talk more about movie in length some other time.

Spoken words: 38 have fallen.

Nifty.

The last two seconds sucked

HAHAHA! When I first read this, I was puzzled, but YES. They really did.

I have mixed feelings, especially now that I'm remembering more of what they cut out (MY PRECIOUS SNAPE! Heads must roll for that), but it was, as you say, a very good movie. I just don't know how they can get around some of the things they left out.

ya i dont understand how they can just skip his hogsmeade permission from sirius.. and sirius giving him a firebolt at teh freaking BEGINNING and how sirius gave ron his owl at teh end... and.. EVERYTHING! the main characters of this movie were daniel and the lupin man. a lil more hermione and dumbledore then others. what happened with snape? hagrid even? how bout how hagrids hut is on a hill now instead of by the forest. lol. and neville got skinny and ugly. lee jordan is short and fat. olivber wood? cho is also introduced in this book... she aint here. and u know they win the quidditch cup finally? well no u probably forgot cuz they LEFT IT OUT! grrr and and and... so much more but whatever ill live because danile was featured enough to keep me happy till the next movie. and thats a long time. the end.

A group of concerned activists needs to be on the set of the fourth film, like the ASPCA, only not. The APSR, if you will -- the Association for the Prevention of Snape Rape. No mention of The Prank makes me fear that they'll leave out the minor detail that, oh, SNAPE IS A DEATH EATER SPY. You know, little things.

I wish Steve Kloves' mind made sense and he were in love with Snape instead of his own new-and-improved HermioneSue.

Still, in other ways it was wholly delightful. Spencer and I had way too much fun with the slashy undertones. Draco passing Harry an origami note? The pajama-clad pillow fight in the boys' dorm? "Quarreling like an old married couple"? YES.

Posted by Christina @ 06/05/2004 02:05 PM PST

When Sirius and Remus embraced, their faces looked a little too much in ecstasy. :P

I forget, who was quarreling like an old married couple? I remember the line, not the pair ^^;

They wouldn't forget that about Snape. Would they?

And yes, they took out all of the Snape evil angerrr and his recieving First Class, Order of Merlin, etc etc. The book is still a trazillion times better. But it's also a trazillion times longer. So while I love the book much better, I enjoyed the movie itself as a lovely piece that is much, much better than the first two.

I don't like Emma Watson. 'Nuff said.

One of the best parts - one that made me wonder if someone has been referencing book four already - was when Hermione said to Buckbeak, "Come on, get the nasty little ferret!" If that wasn't a reference to Malfoy, I'll shoot myself.

Oh, during Buckbeak's "death" at dawn - our entire theatre went "aww" when Hermione put her head sadly on Ron's shoulder. And then everyone went "eeeeewww" or "yuck" or "go away" when Harry put his head on her shoulder too. (I was one of the "go away!"'s.)

Someone next to me said, "Well, it IS a European film." :P

Snape snapped at Sirius and Remus for "quarreling like an old married couple." This means three things:

1. Sirius and Remus are together.
2. Snape is jealous.
3. I squealed like a little girl.

Oh, Janice! I thought of the "ferret" line as a Draco reference too. I actually found Draco more entertaining in this movie than the other two, because he was so blatantly an idiot. Previously he was trying more to be menacing, which was just silly.

The head-on-shoulder thing struck me as yet another slightly OOC Movie!Hermione touch, but your fellow moviegoer's comment ("Well, it IS a European film") is brilliant.

Speaking of strangeness, did you notice that both Ron and Mr. Weasley, at different times, called her "'Mione"? Heaven help us.

If I were judging by this movie, the only clear-cut pairing I would have seen would be Sirius/Remus. The messages about the trio were a bit mixed, what with the Ron/Hermione and then the Harry/Hermione in the Time Turner sequence.

Janice needs to get away from the go fuck yourself.

Posted by Andrew @ 06/05/2004 09:23 PM PST

Hmmm.

I am underwhelmed.

Posted by Sarah @ 06/05/2004 11:47 PM PST

I saw Harry Potter today after SATs. It was dissapointing.

You're right, the end did suck.

Posted by Andrew @ 06/06/2004 01:07 AM PST

Yeah. It was-- it was pretty, um... yep.

Posted by Spencer @ 06/07/2004 02:09 AM PST

Too much time has passed without a comment.

Posted by Sarah @ 06/14/2004 10:00 AM PST

Very true. Topic of discussion: Xanga, LiveJournal, or personal website. Which is best for blogging? Compare and contrast linking abilities, ability to meet new people, and ad amount...

Posted by Spencer @ 06/14/2004 04:16 PM PST

Oh, Spencer, Spencer. Of course personal website wins out. You can make it do absolutely anything like Xanga can and then some. Plus, you can make a layout of your own choosing, just as you want.

Oh, yeah, and there are no ads on this site. Other than the "Heil Hitler!" ads that Andrew puts up.

LJ has the advantage of LJ communities. But, dur, if I really want to belong to a community, I can just LINK TO PEOPLE. Yep.

Posted by Janice @ 06/14/2004 04:34 PM PST

(Premature P.S. Link contains HP sum-up. Woo.)

What Janice says is true, but I like LiveJournal because of the icons. Pretty, pretty icons.

Hot damn, I'm deep.

Posted by Christina @ 06/14/2004 08:04 PM PST

Christina. You use Xanga. But you like Livejournal. ?_? What?

OMG that script was HILARIOUS. Where do you find that sorta thing? I nearly died when the dementors were chanting SHIIIRE... BAGGINS...

Anyway. :) bye. finals.

Posted by Janice @ 06/14/2004 10:01 PM PST

All my friends either have personal websites or are on Xanga. I fear blazing a trail to LiveJournal, because I am Holden Caulfield and if I strike out on my own I'll end up in a sanitarium in Arizona. Eww, Arizona.

Where do you find that sorta thing?

Magic, dear. Dark magic.

I loved:
LOTR FANS: What are you, new?

and:
SNAPE: EVERYONE SIT DOWN AND SHUT THE GODDAMN HELL UP.

That's my Snape.

Posted by Christina @ 06/14/2004 10:16 PM PST

Well, this should keep me entertained for a bit.

Posted by Sarah @ 06/15/2004 10:31 AM PST

Way to bite my head off, Janice.

I was... just... trying to... get some conversation started... on your blog... but I can tell when I'm not wanted.

I'm leaving in a huff.

If that's too soon, I can leave in a minute and a huff.

Heil Marx!

Posted by Spencer @ 06/15/2004 05:54 PM PST

Exactly when did this bite occur? I did not see it, and I would be sorry to miss the blood.

Posted by Sarah @ 06/15/2004 06:11 PM PST

She... she... called my question...

...

...

"obvious"

Waaaaah haaaa haaa...

Aww, you've adopted my syntax. That's so CUTE!

/scary

Posted by Christina @ 06/15/2004 07:26 PM PST

I said earlier, "Way to ask an obvious question", but I thought I was imitating Andrew. Are Andrew and Christina blurring together in my mind? If Spencer sounds like Christina who sounds similar to Andrew, does that mean Spencer is 1/32 Chinese?

May Christina and Andrew merge and be Andrina. And can terrorize Grogan and begin a Nazi order. By using Jane Austen.

Although second thought, Spencer dating any part of Andrew is just the slightest bit ..

*censored*

Hahaha, I'm looking at my comment to Spencer and perhaps it looks a bit harsh. Poor baby. *pats Spencer on the head*

I'm going to sleep again. Night, young ones. (I think I babble in this entry.)

Posted by Janice @ 06/15/2004 08:10 PM PST

All you people do is make me happy. ^.^

Can I keep you?

Posted by Sarah @ 06/15/2004 09:15 PM PST

Hi there. I hate the English anthology.

Posted by Christina @ 06/15/2004 09:28 PM PST

Sarah: I cannot be imprisoned by any human! I belong to myself! Oh, God bless.

And for Christina's question: No. I have the final Thursday. You poor, poor 2nd period people.

Posted by Janice @ 06/15/2004 11:22 PM PST

The boxes have taken over my room. I can't reach my bed. I just gave up and slept on the floor, partially under my desk last night.

::weep::

Call me if you want to get together on Friday!

Posted by Sarah @ 06/16/2004 09:05 AM PST

I'm still here.

Posted by Andrew @ 06/16/2004 03:08 PM PST

I love you, Andrew

Posted by Spencer @ 06/17/2004 07:08 PM PST

Male on male love!

Yep.

Posted by Janice @ 06/17/2004 08:58 PM PST

I love you, floor lamp

Posted by Spencer @ 06/18/2004 04:20 PM PST

What a way to speak of Christina!

Posted by Janice @ 06/18/2004 10:22 PM PST

I love you, coat hook

Posted by Spencer @ 06/18/2004 11:41 PM PST

Goodnight, moon.

Posted by Andrew @ 06/18/2004 11:47 PM PST

Wow. Teh interweb dies on me for a few days, and when I resurface I'm a floor lamp and Andrew and Spencer are an item?

h0tt.

Posted by Christina @ 06/19/2004 02:10 PM PST

But wouldn't being the floor be far more fascinating? After all, wouldn't that be where the action is taking place?

Posted by Janice @ 06/19/2004 05:25 PM PST

As long as I'm within a half-mile radius, I imagine I'll hear -- well. Perhaps that's a thought better left unsaid.

Posted by Christina @ 06/19/2004 08:02 PM PST

I just accepted a spontaneous invitation to go see Harry Potter for the second time. Operative words: "spontaneous" and "second time."

Posted by Christina @ 06/20/2004 03:59 PM PST

Did somebody say Gregory Peck?
