08/20/2005 Entry: "College Life.. well, packing, anyhow."

Music | Shimokawa Mikuni - Ano Hi ni Kaeritai (I want to return to that day)

Mood | Contemplative. (Hah.)

10:45 AT NIGHT: PACKING

Janice: Did I pack the orange face lotion?
Stacy: It's in the box with the make-up.
Janice: Are you sure? We should check.
Stacy: I'm pretty sure I packed it..
[checks box]
Janice: .. Okay, you win.

Janice: Oh my gosh, it's another stapler! How many did we pack-
Stacy: Just one.
Janice: Are you sure? Shouldn't we check?
Stacy: I'm positive.

Janice: Crap, did you pack my contacts?
Stacy: Were they in a white and green bag?
Janice: Yes.
Stacy: Then yes.

[Stacy opens the one box Janice packed]
Stacy: ... Where did you learn how to pack? [repacks box]
Janice: > >;

It wasn't my fault that the books in the last box got somewhat.. disorganized. No, really. Anyway, a BIG thank you goes out to Stacy, who accomplished the packing far faster than I could've done alone. Especially since if it had been just me, I wouldn't have got started until at least 4 a.m. Note that she also folded all my shirts into tiny little rectangles. She's going to -own- Davis. She also went shopping with me when I forgot to get school stuff - this being when she came over to help me pack. (We raided Office Depot last night right before it closed, oops.) I think I was deliberately putting off all the college shopping stuff - it had such an air of finality to it, after all. Scary =P

(The cashier at Office Depot was a girl a year older than me who I knew from Calculus; she commented, "Isn't this a little last-minute?" Psh.)

In any case, I didn't want to make a sentimental "this is a new chapter of my life" entry, because god knows you guys would all strangle me for it. (Or you'd at least convert my blog, as that would be less painful to read, I'm sure.) Still, this is...

Well, weird. I'm not sure what I expect out of college; I know that I'm worried about making friends (the first "awww, po' baby" I hear gets a fist through the teeth), about studying and making good grades, getting a job, and about what exactly I'm doing with my life after this.

Note that yes, I realize this whining won't accomplish anything, I just feel like saying that I'm experiencing ZOMG! TEENAGE ANGST AND CONFUSION about my fUtUrE.

On the upside, I got a letter from some Cal Christian organization that had a chart indicating where my level of spirituality was. I would've scanned it in, but somehow, it ended up getting soaked in green tea. Gosh, how did that happen?

We'll see if I get to blog about my roommate. If she turns out to be a great person and a friend, she might be getting the link to this, and it'd be smart not to complain; if not, this is officially becoming my Berkeley B-tching* Blog, starring none other than her.

(*Censored for the sensitive eyes of my readers.)

All in all, at 3:30 a.m. of the day that I go to Berkeley, I'm pretty excited. After all, college! People! Guys that I haven't known since I was born! Squirrel fishing! Yes, you read that correctly. And it's catch-and-release, so there.

Anyway, I'm exhausted, but I'm looking forward to four (please not more) years at Cal. (Especially History 5, Tanya! How the heck did that happen?) And if you didn't know, I'm taking a -Jane Austen- seminar, so wheeeeee! *cackles and crashes*

Spoken words: 7 have fallen.

I hope that your first semester and year at Berkeley goes well. Have fun, but work hard as well because there's no turning back after this point. I'm sure that I speak for everyone when I say that you and your......."unique" personality will be missed dearly.

I just realized that this is the first time since I've met you that I won't have a single class with you. That's what? Seven years now? I've known you for WAAAAAAAAAAAY too long. Deng that's a long time.

Relative to all of creation, I deny that as being a long time.

And, not to sound patronizing, but you'll be fine. Don't worry, it'll be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Plus, if you instill fear in the roomate early, she won't fuck with your stuff.

Well, I'm refering to the creation of myself. And in reference to that, I've known Janice for just about half of my life.

And if worse comes to worse, you could always kill your roommate and give Josh the remains.

I'm going to miss you! Say hi to Vanessa for me and make sure she says hi to you for me. And you know, our schools aren't THAT far away from each other. I think at one point this year we should go into San Francisco together. It will be an ADVENTURE.

I'm looking forward to four (please not more) years at Cal.

Hahahaha public school. Sucker.

I just feel like saying that I'm experiencing ZOMG! TEENAGE ANGST AND CONFUSION about my fUtUrE.

I love you.

And if you didn't know, I'm taking a -Jane Austen- seminar, so wheeeeee!

And yet I also hate.

I watched Pride and Prejudice the other day.

Sir William Lucas for the win.
