I'm tired. Really really tired.
All week long, I've had swim practice. And it's tiring. And today, I had to do a book report after school in English, and I knew I wouldn't be able to make the bus, so I told my coach.
And I thought I was going to die. She gave me the look of death. I swear to god, my entire life flashed before my eyes.
So I did my book report. Then I went to B&N to buy my copy of Portrait in Death. Did that. Then walked home with a really heavy backpack and swim bag and umbrella ;_;
And I have MORE GRAMMER PACKETS FOR ENGLISH. ARGH. At least there's no history and math... thank goodness. (Well, there was math, but this section is easy :D) No spanish, no computer science (I don't understand while-loops, I think, or maybe it's just my program). Argh argh. ^^; My fingers are too cold (I just had nengmyun) to type, too, so I'll blog more later.. what a horrible week, though. First swim meet monday o.O

::cackles:: I dunno how long this blog entry will be, because I'm kinda tired, but I have lots to blog about! I like going over everything, so read at your own risk :DDD
Yesterday night (well, it's actually sunday now I think), or rather, Friday night, was Burbank High School's FIRST ANNUAL WINTER FORMAL, dum dum dum. Held at the oh-so-classy Castaways :P well, as my sister's friend said, it's better than the gym. Mom took some pictures of us with the digital before we left, but she didn't hold the button long enough, so when I went to transfer the pictures today, they weren't there XD When we finally left at around 7:10, we were sorta late ("we" being Sarah, Stacy and myself), because I got started on my hair and make-up late (dragging down the rest) and so one thing just led to others, but that doesn't matter because there were only about a dozen people - tops - when we got there. :) We got our pictures done right away, which was nice, using the purple background. Stacy was the tallest, so the photographer made her stand behind myself and Sarah :P she looked very sexy in black, btw. Sarah looked rather airy in scarlet ^.^ and I looked like, well, me. :P Hannah did my hair, which was really nice of her... and finished off the edge of my make-up. Sohyun did the majority very nicely ^.^ I'll put a picture up, probably, somewhere (and make it only accessible to my friends... no use in the whole random world seeing what I look like >.>;) when I get them.
When we got there, there wasn't anyone we really knew to 'mingle' with, so we just found a table, sat down, and looked around vaguely with nothing to really say. ^.^ The room in particular was the one at Castaways that I was in for Merrick's bah mitzvah.. that was amusing. Funny thing is, the shoes I was wearing were the same shoes that I wore back then, too, since I bought them for that occasion. (that's actually more disturbing than funny - they barely fit, though.) And did Merrick not come? We looked for him. Anyway :P I wasn't bored, but I think my friends thought I was because I grabbed my cellphone, switched it on, and began playing Snake II. Hey :P I just like having something to do while talking. We must've been bored, though, and paranoid, because I went to the bathroom four times before dinner just to check my make-up.
Dinner was served at 8:something, although it was supposed to be at 8 -.- they began with a really nasty tasting salad (Sarah said it was brown lettuce, and I was inclined to agree) with the cheese and dressing already on, for reasons beyond me, and I ate one leaf and then the croutons. (Croutons are good for the soul.) I only like red wine vinaigrette dressing :P not ranch or blue cheese or "bleu". How sad. They brought bread, next, and our table nearly destroyed the butter. I actually thought the bread was kinda bland, so I sprinkled some salt on my butter. Uh-huh, yeah.
Quick note: Earl, was your sister at the winter formal? I thought I recognized her in the bathroom.
I ordered steak, rather than chicken. Now, I don't know how the chicken tasted, but the steak was... weird. It was "top sirloin" with "rice pilaf" and "assorted vegetables". The green - I think they were cucumbers? - tasted fine, but the broccoli was cooked in Hell's Kitchen, and so was the yellow squash. Ick. The rice pilaf SUCKED - I'm sorry, I can't stand rice with that odd scent and flavor to it. I like fried rice, fine, but this tasted really nasty to me :P Sarah liked it, though, so it's just a matter of taste. As for the meat - which we were able to cut with butter knives that probably wouldn't be able to even gouge my eye out - it tasted slightly processed, but I was starving, so I ate mine and half of Sarah's. ^_^; Finished off with a somewhat decent and decadent cheesecake - I loved the strawberries. Ooey ^^
By the time we were done eating, it was .. ten past ten, I think. We paused for maybe another minute, but then we gave it up and went dancing. I was wearing my shoes, but we came back in another ten minutes and I traded with Stacy. I did it so I could spare her feet :P but she said she was fine, so maybe it was because I like pain. Who knows. Hers were pretty though ^^ good for dancing, although she said they weren't because the heels kept twisting. (Janice thought that was the point :P)
I don't really dance, although I like to (in moderation) if I'm with friends, but I feel obliged to put up a fuss every single time. :P Don't congratulate yourself for convincing me to dance, someone-I-know, because I'm just contradictory and generally b* that way. ^^; At any rate, we didn't stop dancing until maybe five, ten minutes before midnight... almost non-stop, although I took some water breaks and then one particular break where I walked outside onto the balcony and got locked out :P damn chaperone goes around closing doors -.- (I know very well she didn't know we were there, but let me whine.) I noticed a wedding going on next door - I wonder if they could hear our crowd singing "it's getting hot in here" during the reception. How pleasant for the wedding party.
DJ was not very creative. I've heard better. But it was okay. ^_^ Only two slow songs, thank goodness, although that didn't stop one particular couple from committing carnal sins right in front of my burning eyes, smack on the dance floor. I was tempted to tell them to get a room (they'd only need one about one square foot, after all), but I restrained myself. (Besides, I think the guy was too engrossed in his date's skirts, of which there were many.)
:) We went to my house at around 12:15... I was really tired, and my feet were TENDER. OUCH. Stacy's shoes were very rightfully made by a designer called "Chinese Laundry"... just like the Chinese foot crushers, damn it. Sarah's mom took them home then ^.^ and I tried to finish Betrayal in Death, but I was too tired, and crashed. ^^ I wanna re-read Naked in Death... that one is the really fun one, since that's when Eve meets Roarke for the first time, and he pursues her :P fun fun.
HARRY POTTER V IS COMING OUT IN LESS THAN FIVE MONTHS ~~~ had to say that.
Oh, yes. I just came back from watching Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck :P I watched that movie with the sole and shallow and very wonderful purpose of watching Affleck in leather, and I enjoyed it. I liked it more than Spiderman, which is not saying much because I really hated Spiderman, but, like I said, I enjoyed it ^.^ a little corny at some points, a little overdramatic, but fun. And the X2 trailer looked great XD MAY SECOND! ~ day before my b-day. I swear :P good timing. (And matrix a little while after. Yay yay yay!)
Last thing: freaking a, I hate this computer. I didn't believe in hitting electronics because I was never under the impression that doing so would make them work, but NOW I AM A BELIEVER. The monitor blacked out on me, then flickered back on, and being a little worried, I re-started my computer. And the monitor STAYED BLACK. So then I smacked it, and it made a little jittering noise. And so I kept smacking it for nearly five minutes until it came back on. ::was very annoyed:: Oh, well.. this house has too many monitors for me to keep track of.
Sohyun doesn't like the new Dumbledore because she didn't like him in Gosford Park. The horror. (This would be Michael Gambon, everyone.)
Right, I'm done ^.^

Hey, guess
what? I'm a--

What color Yoshi are you? Come take the quiz!
I saw that on another blog XD I thought it was hilarious... the guy spelled "ridiculous" wrong, though, and I am most certainly not redicuously popular. But Yoshi is the bomb ^.^ Plus, this one matches my blog.
On another note, the new X-2 trailer looks really cool.
Except for that kiss at the end. If that's Jean Grey and Wolverine kissing, I'll eat my shoes, my swim bag, and my new dress for Winter Formal.
No. No. No. NOOOOOOO. Heeeellllo, I do believe she's supposed to be dating CYCLOPS! o.O ::twitches::
Another thing.
Today was really weird.
We had a sub today in English. Usually, I'm really happy when that happens, because it means our regular teacher isn't there :) and then the land turns from hell to earth again. (Because usually even her subs are .. weird.) Today was no exception...
Except, well, the sub creeped me out o.O he started off the class by making us face certain walls ("that one!" "now the other one!" "the ceiling!"), then made us stomp on the floor and asking us if it felt "real". When we had done that twice, he asked us if it felt real again, and I said "no more than before", which earned us doing it again. -.- I kept my mouth shut the next time. Then he had us say hello to someone - then another someone - then another three someones very fast - then hi to someone like we "really meant it". XD I tackled Alice and gave her a really big hug while squealing, "Hi!" Unfortunately, I was right in front of the sub (my desk is in the front of the classroom), and I guess because he saw me hug Alice, he told me to "enthusiastically say hi to him" and pointed to the guy behind me.
I shook his hand. :P If he was one of my friends, I would've given him a hug, but this guy... uh, this is one I screamed at for ten minutes straight (at the top of my lungs and likely with some cursing, although I'll never admit to it) a very long time ago. (Maybe last week?)
Oh yeah. Anyway :P he passed out a grammar quiz. I had a book that I was reading, so I plunked it on the desk and did my quiz. And for some really, really weird reason, the guy picked up my book, read the summary, then took it back to his desk for like, ten minutes (right when he picked it up, I said, "Uh, that's a very trashy book you know..." [hint hint] and he said, "That's alright." ?_?) and then brought it back. o.O It was Purity in Death, written by Nora Roberts as J.D. Robb. :P You'll know what I mean if you've ever seen a J.D. Robb novel. At any rate, yeah, I thought the sub was weird. Later, he passed out three grammar packets for us to do (just freaking busy work), and I did two, then I passed out, too - on the desk. He walked by five minutes before class ended and said, "Are you alright?" and I jolted awake and said something to the extent of, "Fine, fine!" in a somewhat surprised voice. I don't know what I was doing. I do know I was tired.
No swim practice tomorrow! And Winter Formal on Fridaaaay (no swim practice then, either :P). Yaay!

I originally thought today that I would stay home, sleep, eat, and read a book, but surprisingly enough, I got a call from Sarah at an unearthly hour (11 a.m., Sarah? Sleep in -.-) and we went window-shopping ^^ actually, I actually did some _shopping_... ::holds up a brand-new purple dress and cackles:: I love this thing. ::basks in feminine happiness over clothing:: Anyway, it'll match fine with my silver heels that I bought for Merrick's bah (bar?) mitzvah in 7th grade.. they just barely still fit. And Sohyun's choker :) this dress will look nice with silver stuff (although Sohyun said I look very young in it.. so what if I didn't buy something that encouraged debauchery? :P) I'm really happy ^^ I love Sohyun's old prom dress, which was what I was gonna wear, but this fits better. :) Sohyun said that since I spent so much $$$ on it, I get to wear it for the rest of the formals for the rest of my life (excluding prom). ^.^ I guess I have my outfit for the governor's ball now. [this is at key club convention]
Anyway :) I don't want to describe it too much, because I'll have pics and stuff, but it's a two-piece, dark purple evening dress that has no poof, thank you very much, and does have spaghetti straps and a thick shawl. I'm going to take pictures with Stacy and Sarah there :) which will be nice... I'll have pics to pass around. I might make copies ^^ I'm happy that I have a nice dress! ::is in love with it::
Yeah, this must be uninteresting to my guy friends. Whatever :P Stacy, you should've gone with us!! It was fun trying on dresses... (Sarah's looks nice on her :) a lovely color, I'm sure Sohyun would agree...)

I had to write this entry for one reason and one reason only. Something very disturbing I read online:
Basara Manga Licensed.
Basara, Yumi Tamura's popular manga series, has been licensed by Viz Communications and will be released bi-monthly in unflipped graphic novel format. Basara, the tale of fraternal twins Tatara and Sarasa and their life in a post apocalyptic world, ran for 27 volumes between 1991 and 2000.
::screams:: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! MY BASARA! MY PRECIOUS, PRECIOUS BASARA! ;_; I can't believe it.. it's going to be corrupted by the Viz people who think it's clever to strongly emphasize words continously (I'm not even exaggerating) because what, they think it's clever? (Try reading outloud that previous sentence with the emphasis.. you'll see why I have a headache.) I should've seen this coming, ESPECIALLY because when I bought "Chicago" (another manga by Tamura), it mentioned in the back that this was by the author of the epic Basara. -.- I guess Chicago did well in sales... must've been a test, since Basara is a pricey release thing. But MY BASARA! ;_;
I hope mangaproject doesn't drop it.. my heart would break. Such a good manga.. I chose Sarasa for my epic hero in English. anyway :) wanted to comment on that.

Life in my house is generally fairly normal with random spurts of weirdness, screaming, and the like.
Usually, it's me.
Today, it wasn't.
:)
The last time that someone had a mad fit of screaming - I mean the kind where the person is just screeching in terror or disgust or something - is when I drank a little bit of really old cider that had apparently fermented into... something ... and I hadn't known. I made nasty faces, and told my sister, Sohyun, who drank it.
As I recall, she screeched for about ten seconds before blaming me.
Today, it was a different situation.
I'm Korean. I live in a house where we take our shoes off when we come inside.
We have very very recently acquired a rodent problem.
Can you see where I'm going with this?
My dad, after we acquired the rodents, decided to also acquire some rodent poison - slow acting, so that after the initial intake, it doesn't really kill right away.. they die after two or so days.
Now.
My sister went downstairs to the kitchen because my dad called her... I was upstairs, innocently working on the computer.
When we enter the kitchen in my house, we usually put on house slippers because the tiled floor is too cold.
And, well, I was slightly - honestly, only slightly - surprised when Sohyun let out a blood curling scream.
I might've ignored it (was seriously considering it) when I realized that she was continuing to scream. And scream. And scream.
I actually clicked on the computer clock and she was screaming non-stop for over a minute - from the time that I actually started timing her ^^ at any rate, at this moment I was pretty curious, so I walked downstairs.
I think the only reason I wasn't more surprised when my sister tackled me and -wiped- her foot on me is because I was really tired.
At any rate, I took it well. I didn't freak out, although I did start laughing so hard I couldn't help it. When I saw my father laughing and tossing something gray into the trashcan, I thought that he must've played a prank on her.
Then since my sister started screaming actual words, the message got through to me.
"I STEPPED ON A MOUSE! A MOUSE! A MOUSE! HOW COME WHEN I'M NOT EVEN HOME MOST OF THE TIME AND JANICE AND MOM ARE HERE ALL THE TIME, -I'M- THE ONE WHO ENDS UP STEPPING ON A MOUSE!?!?"
Apparently, a poisoned mouse had somehow gotten into the house (::twitches nervously::), curled up somewhere warm (the cloth covered slipper), and CURLED UP TO DIE. Whereupon my sister stuck her foot in the slipper, thought there must be "something odd" because her foot didn't go all the way in, only to realize that she was jamming her foot up against a dead mouse.
Aside from the fact that my dad had picked a DEAD MOUSE UP BAREHANDED, I think the fact that my OLDER SISTER WHO MUST OBVIOUSLY HATE ME BECAUSE SHE WIPED HER MOUSE-SQUISHING FOOT ON MY JEANS AND SHIRT AND PROBABLY MY SKIN WAS SOMEWHAT DISTURBING, YES.
My reaction: Eeeeeeeeeeew. that's jes nazty.
I ran away from my sister ;_; and she followed me up the stairs and dragged me out from underneath the table where I had taken refuge and she KEPT WIPING HER FOOT ON MY JEANS, AND NEED I REMIND YOU THAT THIS WAS A MOUSE-SQUISHING FOOT? I was laughing and screaming (my screams were almost as loud as hers, top volume too) too much to get away. In the end, Sohyun said that it had to have been a rat because it was too big to be a mouse.
I am SO glad I live on the second floor.
Jayhyun, are you sleeping in halmoni's room when you come back for break? ^.^
Anyway, this was a fairly disgusting experience. And when Sohyun least expects it, I'm going to poison her water again.
[well, not poison, just contaminate. if you just add a little gatorade to water, it tastes really nasty because it really doesn't taste like water. i added vinegar last time, too.]

I know an idiot.
I will not say his name, but I know an idiot.
His name, although since I said I will not say it and thus will not say it, rhymes with Miss.
So we'll call him Miss.
Yes, Miss, damn it.
Miss has been begging me for my website address for several months now. I have refused to give it to him. On the occasions that I have given him, the idiot has lost it.
Today, he immed me. I felt pity, once again. Wasted pity. I told him to go to google.com, type in "karenai", and then click "I'm feeling lucky".
And he went.
And though this is obviously a blog, the first thing he told me was, "so this is your site?" When, as he told me, he is looking for the one that Minako and I run together. But that can be excused, because he might not know it's a blog.
Never mind the 'reiryoku' [personal site] link listed down there.
And when I told him no, it wasn't, he wanted to know where it was.
I don't like idiots.
Other than that, it's been a long and somewhat uninteresting day. My classes are boring or just stupid - or, better yet, impossible to understand - and the girl who sits behind me in math talks even more than I do, and during the damn lesson.
Homicide is against the law?
Well, then.
Is coercing a person into suicide considered homicide?
Miss, and the girl behind me, who we'll call Palandra, will probably not live past tomorrow.
*sigh* I'm going to go work on my novel now.

Today is my mother's birthday.
I slept through dinner.
My dad and I gave her teeth whitener.
I have history homework and math homework. And chemistry.
Sarah, are you sick? :x You weren't at school today - AND you were transferred to Mr. Barberia's third period. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ~
Oh, btw - I got a B in pre-calculus, which seems to be nothing impressive, but I was _really_ close to getting a C. In fact, during english I worked out my math grade to be a C, and that was just depressing... figures that I must've done the percentage wrong on my MATH grade. -.- Either way, I have a B, and I'm thrilled. I really didn't get this semester, and I'm lucky to have gotten this B. :) Taleen says that we'll try for A's this semester.
Oh. and my *** Spanish teacher gave me a B, which means I'm going to have three B's on my report card. I'm pissed, because she taught us crap throughout the entire year, and I worked my butt off trying to study a language that makes NO APPARENT SENSE to me, did all the work (which was A work), did A-B average on her quizzes, and then because of the final, it dropped my grade like a machine-gunned man. ::screams:: I was really mad, because I studied, too. And now I hear that a lot of the Spanish teachers are going to quit next year. Great. So there'll be a newbie teacher for Spanish III. [Stacy suggested that they might get new languages, but my college aps. won't look impressive with two years of dismal Spanish and then two years of Japanese or something :P]
I should do my history homework so that I can go back to bed. Will go to swim practice tomorrow. Arghish, I need a new cap and goggles.
Hm. Should do homework. My chemistry teacher gave us a somewhat childish assignment.. "Name five things you know about gas." Methane?

Changed the font color to a darker one since I got two complaints, heh.
I was woken up at one today by a call from Jessica telling me to volunteer at the library ^.^ I did go. I My Me Strawberry Eggs looks cute, probably will request some time in the future. My sister should burn off Get Backers 8-11.
:P Yumi didn't comment on my fic. ::whacks her on head::
Heard about the Colombia space tragedy :x how sad.. and to think that they had a moment of silence for Challenger's crew a few days ago. I hope their families will be alright.. that's such a horrible thing to happen. I hope for the crew to rest in peace.

Well, notice anything different?
Aside from the green.
Which is currently present in excessive amounts.
Well, I have a new blog layout... it's taken me months, but I have one. Organized somewhat simpler than before, and isn't it nice? As says in the info, this is Miyazawa Yukino from Kare Kano [Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou]. It's scary, because she looks very pretty in that picture. Yukino is generally a cute character, but she's either in a psycho mood, calm mood, or sophisticated-scary-schoolgirl mode. Thus, elegant is not generally what she does, but there you go.
Layout took me a little over four hours. The colors of the scrollbar are really too dark for this page, but I was too lazy to look up the color of the background picture, which is not really one color anyway (zoom in on it and darken and you'll be able to read something). My last background was really, really pale water, so it was hard to see the swirls. I also fixed the comments and stuff, because what was the point of having two links - 'no comments' and '1 comments' if, for pity's sake, they take you to the exact same page? Idiotic. I kept the 'more' thing, though, to let people know that the entry isn't finished.
Oh, the picture. It's kinda thin (the lines of the drawing, I mean) because I took one look at the original picture [here] and screamed something incoherent (probably along the lines of "NOOOOOOOOO") because I did not want to edit all that gray fuzz. Soooo, I cheated and played aroung with brightness and contrast, and what do you know. The gray stuff all went away. But as payment, the lines aren't as strong and pretty, resulting in a somewhat shaky picture. Because of that, I probably won't keep this blog layout as long as the last one (which bothered me because the profile wasn't properly aligned with the picture), but it'll stay awhile, nonetheless. The green background, which I had because stark white tends to bother me, is not good because it makes the picture look too white. I might change the bg to white, but I doubt it.
When I was looking for a quote to put at the top, I originally went through half of my "really depressing songs" and put them in. I found one that I liked in Scarlet, the AnC opening song sung by Iwao Junko, but it was just too long. As it is, the one I got from the Sailors Stars OP is too long for people in less than my own resolution, 1280x800. ^.^; Oops.
I put a divider in with my names because I didn't want the entry to start right after the profile, if you were wondering. I would've put the picture below the profile, but that would just have been Nasty, so No.
The unwithering flower, thing, if you were wondering: 'karenai', the name of my blog, is a word that means 'unwithering'. I've never heard or seen it used in anything but the context of flowers (meaning it can't be translated as eternal' or something), so it's best used with words that fit flowers. ^.^ I really like this word. I originally heard it in the FMP! ending song. At any rate, my other screenname, for those of you who know it... the kanji [Chinese characters] that is used to write "Kikyou" is a word that stands for 'bellflower'. Hence, unwithering Kikyou = unwithering flower = undying Kikyou, which I think fits her in both a literal and metaphorical sense. So, even though my screenname seems rather Kikyou-fangirlish, it's not :) And if you don't know my screenname, don't ask, and if you post it, I will kill you.
I like to explain the karenai thing to brag every once in awhile, and I don't know why because it really isn't that creative.
I want to go to Japan on the exchange trip, but I didn't apply. Damn it.
For those of you who actually read my fanfics (I originally intended to use this as a ficblog, but that really didn't happen), I am writing fanfics. Kaitou! chapter three is almost entirely edited. I still have to write a scene where Asuka Jr. walks Meimi home, and that is looking to Be A Pain, because I still am not good with romance (I'm decent with the concept, not the interaction), and that scene has a lot of subtle stuff that sets up the ground for the second half of this story. So it could take another week, or at least this weekend, and then I'll update reiryoku and be a happy girl :) Tadaima will be finished by my birthday, I hope, since I think I've finally decided on an ending (I've had two). As for everything else, I'm waiting for Inuyasha to spin out its latest arc, which is intriguing and potentially damaging to my 'canon' storylines. :)
My original story is doing okay. I'm beginning to relate everything I do to it, which is good for the fic, but not good when I'm relating my suffering to it during class or a test, and that does happen, and then I have to smack myself, and that's always loud, and then everyone stares very obnoxiously, jerks.
"And with that, he died, and they lay, slumped together, sunk into mud made soft and wet and warm with the blood that flowed from them until it stopped, and the mud was cold."
I'm editing a fanfic right now with that line in it. I think that line sounds a little (yeah, 'little') convoluted though, so it will probably be cut somewhat. Yumi-chan, you're drawing me the picture? I refuse to post it without your fanart.
I'm looking through my fanfics right now. It's weird. I have a lot of cute ideas in here, but some that are obviously going nowhere.. case in point is my Tanabata fic, which I have continued here. It's romantic, which I do write every once in awhile, and a straight out one, not even one of my little introspects. But it still is very clean ^.^ no dramatic love scenes, because I can't and won't do those, no need to collectively heave a sigh of relief, please. It's Inuyasha, so you should know about IY to read this, and if you don't, you'll be confused, and since there's some subtle stuff that infers from the show, as do all my fics, I hope you've seen a lot of it. It's only two pages long - not even - so I can't really post it yet. I'm thinking that I'll write a Miroku-Sango segment, too, and post it in July. I can't believe I wrote this as it is, since it's really ... cheesy. And come on, it's Tanabata. ^.^ Well, this was originally supposed to serve as a fic blog, so I s'pose this is alright. :) Read at your own risk and please, do comment. I myself will be crashing now, since it's 4:15 for pity's sake. What am I doing? Kyaaaa! ^^; [the rest]
